Meet Our Founding Psychologist
Dr Selina Tour is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked within the field of mental health, trauma and psychology for 15 years. She is trained to doctorate level in Clinical Psychology and is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Dr Tour holds a BSc, MSc and ClinPsyD in Psychology and has published a number of research articles.
Having worked with marginalised groups from prisoners, those with severe mental health difficulties and addiction to ethnic minorities on the edge of care services, looked after children and migrants struggling with adjustment, Dr Tour became aware of how mainstream services are often not equipped to work within a culturally appropriate framework or offer bespoke assessment and treatment in line with individual difference and need. She became aware of how individuals can be pathologised versus understood when they are different and she therefore founded Prosper Psychology to be able to offer assessment and treatment which is grounded in individual culture and context, and supports marginalised groups to both understand themselves and move forward meaningfully.
Dr Tour therefore advocates for always working within a culturally sensitive framework and has particular interest in intergenerational trauma, somatic therapies and supporting people who have often been marginalised by their experiences to live more fully.
Prosper Psychology therefore takes a holistic approach drawing on somatic, trauma, and relational research to support clients in better understanding difficulties within their context and moving towards greater wellbeing. Prosper Psychology is dedicated to promoting mental health and wellbeing in the wider community, and has experience working with organisations to support their employees and offering sessions to local communities.
